AIB North Wexford Business Awards

The AIB North Wexford Business Awards are staged on a quarterly basis covering Small Business, Tourism, Retail and Industry/Services. This is a unique Business Award system as the winners are selected solely and totally by the business community in North Wexford.

During the voting periods you can cast your vote by emailing with your nomination. Be sure to include a couple of lines as to why you are nominating your chosen business. Once we have the nominations in place, we will then circulate a listing from which the award winner will be selected.

2017 Winner

Coatek unveiled as winners of the AIB North Wexford Business Award – Small Business for 2017.

Coatek were announced as winners of the coveted AIB North Wexford Business Award – Small Business 2017 at a recent Gorey Chamber function in the Amber Springs Hotel.

These awards are sponsored by AIB Gorey and are exclusively aimed at the business community in North Wexford with both the nomination process and selection procedure totally in the hands of registered businesses in the area.

The Small Business Award is mulitsectoral ( Retail, Tourism, Services, Industry etc) with the only stipulation being that the business be based in North Wexford and employ no more than 10 full time people or the equivalent.

This years nominees included Bailey’s Toymaster, Coatek, Helena’s Florist, Luca, Place, South East Financial, Tara Stores. Following a very active campaign the counting of votes, completed on the morning of the announcement saw Coatek take the prize.

Based in Gorey Business Park, Coatek and A Tint are a family run business owner managed by Hugh and Martina Kenny. Currently employing 7 people, they specialize designing and installing quality window and film products throughout the 32 counties.

Accepting the award Martina Kenny declared ” We are honoured, its is a wonderful achievement to be recognised by the business commmunity here in North Wexford”

Speaking at the presentation, Keith Groarke, AIB Gorey, Manager commented ” These awards are an important recognition of the work within our business sector. The interesting mixture of nominees covering retail, services and manufacturing clearly shows us the strength of business in North Wexford and explains how we continue to flourish.”

The winners received a piece created by locally designer and weaver Grainne Kenny which was sourced in Market House Design  while every one of the nominees received a framed certificate sponsored by The Gaslamp Gallery on Esmonde Street.

House of S.O.S is the collective name for three popular shops on Main Street, Gorey. It consists of Koolkidz, 34th and Fifth Avenue. All three shops are owned and run by Sinead O’ Sullivan (hence the name!) Sinead has many years’ experience in retail and fashion and her expertise and knowledge can be clearly seen from her three shops which she has passed on to all her helpful and friendly staff.
Koolkidz celebrated its 10th birthday this year making sure your child is the ‘koolest kid’ in town with comfortable and trendy clothes to suit all occasions and days out.
Fifth Avenue is opened six years this summer and stocks the well-known brands Vero Moda, Only and Pieces. All three brands are for the fashion conscious lady,Fifth Avenue has it covered.
34th is the most recent part of House of S.O.S stocking affordable fashions with a wide range of exciting and new brands. It is suitable for all ages and styles, not just the younger lady.

A huge amount of time and effort is put in working with local suppliers to offer customers high quality, local produce at good value. They employ 102 staff members in Gorey located on Main Street where local Manager Aidan Doyle prides himself on operating a quality service. Sleeda Farm is part of the Pettitt’s brand supplying quality fresh meats to their customers in 6 stores.

Place is an independent boutique offering an eclectic mix of clothes, jewellery, shoes and accessories. Our pieces are edgy, sophisticated, wearable and dynamic. Opened on John Street by Juliana Walters in 2009 we are now firmly established, stocking many Irish and international designers, but still dedicated to sourcing unique and eye catching pieces that will help you stand out in a crowd.
