Gorey’s appearance on RTE’s Six One News was one of the most-watched videos on the national broadcaster’s social media channels in July.
Over 100,000 people watched the online clip which featured local businesses like La Creme boutique, Innovate, the M11 Business Campus and Gorey Chamber CEO Diarmuid Devereaux.
The three-minute video showcased Gorey as the southeast’s top destination for shopping and the town’s growing reputation as a tech hub.
When shared on the Gorey Chamber’s own Facebook page, the video was watched for a total of 26,000 minutes – that’s the equivalent of 433 hours, or 18 days of continuous viewing.
“Appearing on RTE’s Six One News was a massive coup for the business community in Gorey,” said Gorey Chamber CEO Diarmuid Devereaux.
“It was an incredibly positive story and you simply can’t buy exposure like that.
“The reaction to the story on social media has been phenomenal, with hundreds of comments from people up and down the country who come to Gorey to shop or holiday.
“The video couldn’t have come at a better time, hitting the airwaves the week before the Gorey Market House Festival, which is why the Chamber decided to promote the video through Facebook advertising.
“We’re delighted with the results of that advertising campaign and with the record crowds the festival attracted this year.”
