A meeting of the interim board of the newly formed Wexford County Chamber will take place in Wexford town on October 10th.
At the meeting, board members will elect the county’s first Chamber president and appoint directors.
Work will also begin on recruitment of a new CEO, whose position will be financed with the generous support of Wexford County Council.
“This new Chamber of Commerce will be the voice of business in Wexford and will be fully focused on the creation of sustainable economic growth in the county,” said current Gorey Chamber President Jim Hughes.
“Everybody realises that Wexford as a county cannot continue to thrive if its four main towns continue to compete with each other for business.
“Wexford is low down on the list for investment compared to other counties in Ireland and our new Chamber and its CEO will aim to get us back up the pecking order with the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.
“I would like to congratulate Diarmuid Devereux, whose vision it was to amalgamate the Wexford chambers and for providing the leadership required to drive the project forward.”
